Requirements for Land-based International Visitors
If you are a land-based international visitor planning to enter the Falkland Islands, there are several requirements that you need to fulfill:
Valid Passport: You must have a valid passport that will remain valid for at least six months from the date of your entry into the Falkland Islands.
Return Ticket: You must have a return ticket or onward travel documentation that will take you out of the Falkland Islands.
Pre-booked Accommodation: You must have pre-booked accommodation for your entire stay in the Falkland Islands.
Proof of Sufficient Funds: You must be able to demonstrate that you have sufficient funds to cover your expenses during your stay in the Falkland Islands. This can be in the form of cash, credit cards, bank statements, or any other financial documents.
Visitor's Permit:All land-based international visitors staying in the Falkland Islands must have a valid visitor's permit. The permit is initially valid for four weeks and can be extended by applying directly to Customs and Immigration in Stanley.

Visitor's Permit and Extension Process

When leaving the Falkland Islands, there is a departure tax of £26 that must be paid. This tax is not included in LATAM airline tickets and must be paid separately at the airport before departure. All departing passengers, including Falkland Islands residents, are required to pay this tax. It is important to keep this in mind when planning your travel budget for the Falkland Islands.
Cruise Passengers and Visa Requirements
Cruise passengers visiting the Falkland Islands generally do not need a visa, regardless of their nationality, if they are participating in shore excursions and will not spend additional time in the Falkland Islands before or after the cruise. However, if cruise passengers plan to stay in the Falkland Islands for more than the duration of the shore excursion, they will need to apply for a visitor's visa. The visa application process must be completed through the nearest British Embassy or Consulate with a Visa Section.
