Who Needs a Visa to Enter Pakistan?

According to the new visa policy of Pakistan, all foreign travellers must obtain a visa to enter the country.

All foreign tourists, investors, or business people planning to travel to the Islamic Republic of Pakistan must necessarily have a passport, which should be valid for a minimum duration of six months from their arrival date in the country.

Foreign travellers can obtain an electronic visa via an online application process, a sticker or regular visa from a Pakistani diplomatic mission (embassy or consulate) abroad, or a visa on arrival depending on the traveller's nationality. Only a select few nationalities are barred from applying for an electronic visa for Pakistan.

Citizens of five countries are entitled to enter the Pakistani territories without a visa. The 5 (five) countries include Trinidad and Tobago, Maldives, Samoa, Tonga, and Nepal. Citizens of these five countries have an exemption from the visa requirement. They only need to present a passport valid for at least six months from their arrival date in Pakistan. The visa exemption is valid for one month. Travellers from these countries wishing to stay in Pakistan for a longer duration will require a visa. They can apply through their nearest Pakistani foreign diplomatic mission or apply for a visa online.

E-visa or Sticker-visa?

Many people feel confused between e-Visa and sticker visa. The electronic visa is suitable for individuals looking to stay in Pakistan for a short while. Sticker visa is feasible for those who want to get multiple-entry, long-term visas. There are certain visa categories such as long-term study or a work visa that require the applicant to apply through an Pakistan embassy. Furthermore, the e-Visa system is available for foreign travellers from 175 countries; the rest of nationalities need to apply through a Pakistani mission abroad.
