I’m an experienced Security Professional with more than 28 years of proven work experience in the military and United Nations systems looking for an opportunity to apply my skills in new ways, and would love to bring my expertise and enthusiasm to your growing development team and do hereby apply for the position of Security Officer, British Embassy, Liberia. As Field Security Officer (Talent Pool) in Mercy ships and Field Security Assistant in United Nations. I was tasked on the followings: Prepare and review the Security Risk Assessment (SRA) and physical security plan. Assist to prepare and review the Country Security (CSP); Assist in developing security related system and temporary assignment in Security Operations Center. Maintain an ongoing evaluation of air, land, sea evacuation routes and resources for use in emergencies, ensuring the availability of vehicles, aircraft, vessels, fuel supply and assessable roads; Maintain continuing lines of communication with security focal points in mission and agencies to ensure maximum coordination; Produce drafts, proposals or strategies as required; . Identify problems and issues to be addressed and propose corrective actions; Assist to undertake assignments and projects to provide managerial support to other Units; Prepare, draft and ensure updating of the Security Section SOP's; Review and update all security section related forms and relevant documents; Assist to provide planning support and coordination to security unit supervisors and agencies; Participate in the security sections weekly management meeting; Assist to prepare and submit all mandatory returns to DSS; Any other duties as assigned by the CSA, DSA and DCSO. Provide general requirement support services to help and assist the Duty Security Officers and Sector Security Officers in their duties towards the UN Staff Members, their dependents and UN Facilities. Ensure adequate gathering and verification of security information that may be required for a proper analysis of the situation by the Security Section Leadership. Support all matters pertaining to the collection, up-dating, verification, dissemination of all relevant information regarding the security situation in the UNMIL Area of Responsibility, (Security, and Crimes, Political or military trends.)• Operate any data communication equipment used by the Emergency Communications System (ECS), satellite telephone, VHF, HF, e-mail and fax, etc. Ensure security of database and sensitive information within is unit. Performs data entry and extraction functions. Participate to the development of the Security Plan. Assist in the preparation of the UNMIL Security Plan. Support actions during the implementation of the Security Plan, as required. .Monitor and facilitate the implementation of security policies and procedures in close coordination with the unit manager. Monitoring compliance with the implementation of required Security measures. Monitoring compliance with Camp Security Standard Operational Procedures (SOP) and internal policies. Conduct security training as appropriate. Conduct security briefings to newly arrived staff, as required. Provide general administrative assistance to the Unit. Maintain routine and confidential correspondence files / documents. Process requests for compound access. .Assist to conduct security related investigations. Assist on conducting investigation on road traffic accidents where UNMIL civilian staff is involved. Assist to conduct investigations on misconduct of UN Civilian staff. .Acquires, examines, collates and analyzes on a daily basis local and international open source reports on developments that may impact on Security Section oversight of and the security and safety UN officials, personnel, dependents and program activities. Based on relevant information collated and analysis conducted prepares and disseminates daily, weekly, monthly, and ad hoc Security Information Analysis Reports and assessments • Conducts research particularly on topics that impact the security and safety of UN officials, personnel, installations and program activities; identifies security risks across the Mission area of responsibility, including from regional political, non-state armed actor and conflict trends; Drafts strategies to enhance the protection of UN officials and personnel in the Area of Operations. Conducts Security Briefings for all newly arriving personnel •
