Tourist visa application

By Toni Peters   For Australia Feb 16,2025

I am travelling on a Cunard cruise ship, we will be stopping at the port for Dakar on , Sunday the 20th of April, we are in port for 11 hours. Do we apply for a visa individually, or is that typically organised by the cruise line for the passengers, as it is done in many ports, please advise.
Thanking you Toni Peters

Hey Toni, I went through something similar when I did a West Africa cruise a couple of years back 🚢. For Senegal (Dakar), it usually depends on the cruise line. Many times, the cruise company usually organizes a group visa for passengers, especially for short port stops. This means you often don’t need to apply individually if the ship is handling it. However, it’s always safest to double-check with the cruise line directly, because sometimes rules change— ask if they’re providing a shore excursion visa for Dakar. If not, then you’d need to apply for a single-entry Senegal visa through the Senegalese Embassy or Consulate before your trip. Safe travel!
