Tourist visa requirements for Australia's islands
By Phil Heilmann For Australia Jun 11,2025I will be traveling on vacation for a few weeks in October to Australia, Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, and Cocos Island. I will be applying for a tourist visa to Australia. If a get my tourist visa to Australia, is that sufficient to also be used in Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, and Cocos Island or do I have to have separate visas for each location?

Hi Phil, I had the same question before my trip, and I can confirm that you don’t need separate visas. Once you have a valid Australian tourist visa, it covers entry not just to mainland Australia but also to Norfolk Island, Christmas Island, and the Cocos (Keeling) Islands. They’re all Australian territories, so your tourist visa will be sufficient for visiting them. Just make sure your visa stays valid for the full duration of your trip, and you’ll be good to go. Safe travels!
