Namibia's E-Visa Launch: New Rules for 33 Countries

Namibia, a nation renowned for its abundant wildlife and breathtaking scenery, such as the Skeleton Coast, Etosha National Park, and the Namib Desert, is simplifying the visa application process for international tourists. Citizens of 33 nations will need to get an e-visa or visa on arrival to visit Namibia as of April 1, 2025.
Key Features of the New Visa Policy
The features of this new visa policy are as follows:
- Reciprocity Principle: Applies visa requirements to nations that already require visas for Namibian citizens, ensuring equitable treatment on both sides.
- Modern E-Visa System: Enables foreign visitors to apply for visas online from the comfort of their homes, streamlining the entry process and reducing wait times at border points.
- Global Standards Compliance: Conforms with ICAO guidelines, promoting consistency and improved diplomatic relations with other nations.
- Enhanced Tourist Experience: Designed to simplify entry procedures, making travel to Namibia more efficient and appealing for international visitors.
This updated policy not only makes the process more convenient for travellers but also bolsters Namibia’s reputation on the global stage by ensuring fair and standardised visa practices.

How to Apply for the E-Visa
Starting March 3, 2025, tourists from the 33 eligible countries will be able to apply for an e-visa through a user-friendly online portal. The new online service called ‘Visa On Arrival’ will be available on the official website of the Ministry of Home Affairs, Immigration and Security.
Conclusion
This new visa policy may have a considerable effect on tourism, which is an important part of the Namibian economy. The Namibian government maintains that the reform will not lessen the nation's appeal and could potentially enhance tourism management. This is despite the fact that some experts feel that it may make it more difficult for visitors to enter the country and may even result in a decrease in the number of tourists actually visiting the country.
